646-800Effective Recovery From an Abortion

Family Life Center offers caring and confidential support and understanding to assist in healing women who are experiencing the painful effects of a past abortion. Our mission is to assist women in their personal journey toward healing from the emotional and spiritual trauma of abortion, by providing caring support, education, and guidance.

Health care professionals have identified the emotional trauma that many women experience after the abortion as Post-Abortion Syndrome. The aftermath of an abortion may bring thoughts and feelings that are too painful to deal with, and often women choose to repress or deny that it is the abortion that is causing them to feel bad.

Symptoms of Post-Abortion Syndrome

While a woman may feel that she has everything "under control," the mental and emotional stress may manifest itself in a variety of seemingly unrelated ways including:

  • Regret and remorse
  • Depression
  • Broken relationships
  • Anger
  • Grief and loss
  • Destructive and compulsive behaviors
  • Other intense emotions

The woman who is hurting from abortion may feel some or all of these symptoms. She may be unable to talk about it with others for fear that they will not understand. It may be years before she realizes that she needs help and finds the courage to search for it.

Perhaps you have wondered whether many of your painful thoughts, feelings, and behaviors could be related to your abortion experience. Our post-abortion support program may be of help to you.
